State of Flux Presents: Ivett Dodd
Ivett Dodd aka Ivi
is a designer and artist with a rich background in textiles, fashion, and photography. Her work, spanning ethical labels like Halasi and ivimade, consistently explores innovative, sustainable, and culturally connected design. A winner of the Design Tasmania Award (2019) and recognised internationally for her fashion design, Ivett brings a profound respect for craft and maker identity in her recent publication, Makers.
Makers celebrates the work of Tasmanian jewellers, ceramicists, furniture makers, and textile artists who are shaping a distinctive design culture. It features our very own State of Flux members Gabbee Stolp and Emma Bugg. Through intimate interviews and evocative photography, this book invites you into their studios to explore the objects they create and the stories that inspire them. In a world of mass production, Makers is a tribute to authenticity, individuality, and the power of local design.
Ivi’s presentation will be about the journey of creating Makers from the conception phase of concept development, through writing and editing to acquiring funding by Arts Tasmania and Creative Australia to finally self-publish and produce the book.
This in-person event includes a chance to view Ivi's book, and ask questions after the talk.
