Fullers Book Launch

Ivett Dodd is an Hungarian -Australian writer and photographer. During her career of making wearable objects, she explored socially ethical and environmentally sustainable ways of producing high quality objects. Her work has won two Australian Fashion Awards, Finalist at the Arts of Fashion International and has been part of fashion events in New York. Berlin and Melbourne. Her label ‘ivimade’ received a Design Tasmania award in 2020. Image making has been an integral part of her design practise as a powerful tool to communicate the cultural context of sustainable design. 

Ivett, and a few makers from the book; Michelle Maynard, Duncan Meerding and Emma Bugg will be in conversation with Lucie Cutting.  Lucie is a broadcaster and features reporter based in nipaluna/Hobart. As host of Sundays on ABC Radio Hobart and Northern Tasmania, Lucie has many years experience in conversational interviews.

Join designer Ivett Dodd (Ivi) as she shares the creative journey behind her book Makers, celebrating Tasmanian furniture, craft and design.

Ivett Dodd aka Ivi

is a designer and artist with a rich background in textiles, fashion, and photography. Her work, spanning ethical labels like Halasi and ivimade, consistently explores innovative, sustainable, and culturally connected design. A winner of the Design Tasmania Award (2019) and recognised internationally for her fashion design, Ivett brings a profound respect for craft and maker identity in her recent publication, Makers.

Makers celebrates the work of Tasmanian jewellers, ceramicists, furniture makers, and textile artists who are shaping a distinctive design culture. It features our very own State of Flux members Gabbee Stolp and Emma Bugg. Through intimate interviews and evocative photography, this book invites you into their studios to explore the objects they create and the stories that inspire them. In a world of mass production, Makers is a tribute to authenticity, individuality, and the power of local design.

Ivi’s presentation will be about the journey of creating Makers from the conception phase of concept development, through writing and editing to acquiring funding by Arts Tasmania and Creative Australia to finally self-publish and produce the book.

This in-person event includes a chance to view Ivi's book, and ask questions after the talk.
